ELECTION POSTERS REMOVED

PRESS RELEASE 02 June 2009

OLI DEMPSEY INDEPENDENT CITY NORTH ELECTION POSTERS REMOVED

Why did Waterford City Council remove Oli Dempsey’s 3 unique election posters from the 3 flag posts in front of the Bishop’s Palace today?
Mr. Dempsey believes that they were illegally removed by Waterford City Council because they were drawing attention to one of his election campaign issues, which is the unapproved spending by WCC on a brass horse, 25 flagpoles and some landscaping on The Mall to celebrate Martin Cullen’s colleagues 24 hour visit to Waterford in ‘04.

He feels that WCC has discriminated against him because he is an independent candidate who is intent on keeping Waterford citizens informed of City Hall’s profligate spending. (see olidempsey.blogspot.com)

Running his short sharp campaign on a shoestring budget Oli values each of his posters for the fun they give to the voters while his hard edged policies centre on job creation, enhanced tourism services and waste at City Hall. It is this last campaign issue which has caused WCC to adopt a peevish and unfair attitude in the removal of his posters 30% of which were recycled since the ’04 election.

Following a report in the national press (The Sun 15th May) two weeks ago that his posters were selling for €75 each on ebay. Oli feels that WCC have wasted so much money since ’04 that they are hoping to sell his 3 posters on the net to fund some of their other silly corporate projects.
